So much thanks to the Saint Petersburg Opera Guild for the amazing performance opportunity and the chance for scholarship. I am incredibly grateful for the support of the guild, and this spotlight on younger high school singers. Thank you to all!
Competing against other singers is always a nerve-wracking experience. For me, it is important to focus on my own performance, not comparing myself to others. With that said, it was enjoyable to meet and perform with the many talented singers from around the Tampa Bay area. Personally, I felt moderately comfortable in front of the judges. They seemed very friendly and supportive throughout the whole performance, and did not make the experience as nerve-wracking as it may sound. I will be continuing my music education in college; I plan on studying vocal performance.
I am extremely appreciative of the St. Pete Opera Guild’s award and hope this prize may continue to be available for future singers. This money allowed me to seek out further vocal training. More specifically, I enrolled in multiple masterclasses and online summer intensives including San Francisco Conservatory’s Gilbert and Sullivan workshop and the International Summer Music Institute hosted by Tampereen Conservatory in Finland. I am forever appreciative of these opportunities.
Once again, thank you to the Guild for all of the support, it is highly appreciated by us younger singers, and quite helpful with our journey in a music career!
