Since 1973, the St. Petersburg Opera Guild has presented an annual award to honor individuals for their contributions to the cultural life of our community. This year, the award is being presented to Norman and Mirella C. Smith for their generous support of the St. Petersburg arts community.
Norman and Mirella enjoyed a richly artistic life together, whether in Chicago, Cleveland and now in St. Petersburg, this highly talented couple enjoyed and has continued to support the many facets of the arts. Just over ten years ago, Norman and Mirella were introduced to SPO’s Mark Sforzini; both recognized the burgeoning Company and joined the SPO Board of Directors, with Norman serving as Board president for 2 years. Mirella is now serving as Vice President on the SPO Board, and manages the Mirella Cimato Art Gallery, attracting an array of the fine artists whose works are displayed in ever-changing exhibitions.
